AGENDA             HOTEL INFORMATION

The 2017-2018 legislative session is nearing an end. WSTA has already had a very successful session with the inclusion of 911 reform policy and funding in the Biennial Budget. In addition, the budget contained significant funding increases and WSTA supported policy changes to the PSC Broadband Expansion Grant Program. There are standalone bills we are hoping to see passed prior to the end of the session including: Assembly Bill 583, which creates a sales and use tax exemption for services performed during a disaster period by telecommunications utilities; and legislation to create a Telecommuter Forward! Community certification to promote remote worker options using our broadband. We will also talk about setting the stage for future initiatives such as reforming the way the PSC collects the annual remainder assessment. Your continued participation in our ongoing dialogue with lawmakers is critical to our continued success!

By attending the 2018 WSTA Government Relations Seminar (Wednesday, March 7, 2018), you will hear legislators from the State Senate and State Assembly share their views on the current political environment and priorities for the upcoming session.  It will also be an opportunity for you to visit with and provide information to your legislators in their Capitol offices. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Esbeck at the WSTA office.
