Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association
Job Training and Safety Program
WSTA’s Telecommunications Job Training and Safety Program has been
in existence for 35 years. This highly successful program has helped small,
medium and some large telcos create and keep a high level of safety awareness
among their employees, maintain a safe working environment and provide safety
training required by such government entities as OSHA, the PSC, the Wisconsin
DOT and private insurance companies.
The program, which has been administered through the state Technical College
system, consists of five 6-hour classes at 11 locations around the state. WSTA’s
Education and Safety Committee has worked diligently with the Technical
College system and its program instructor to create and maintain the course.
This is the fifth year, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) Rice Lake has agreed to
contract directly with each participating company, based on the number of
students enrolled. Based on the support for the program shown last year, the
school will plan on holding classes at the same 11 locations as last year. There
will be five classes at each location beginning October 16 and ending April 3.
WITC Rice Lake's registration fee is $340 per student. The
school will handle all of the administrative tasks, including registering
students, submitting contracts, billing participating companies and sending
certificates. The school is not asking companies to pre-register students, but is asking companies to submit registration forms for all employees
expected to attend classes to Roger Neitzel at the first class.
For your convenience, a registration form, a schedule of classes and a list of
class topics for the 2007-2008 year are available on the WSTA web site at http://www.wsta.info/training.htm. Please print the
registration forms, fill them out and submit them to Roger Neitzel at the first
class.
WSTA’s Education and Safety Committee continues to
monitor the program looking for ways to upgrade the content and delivery
process so that companies and employees will benefit even more. We are seeking
input from all of our member companies. Please continue to take advantage of
this educational opportunity. Thank you.
