AGENDA             HOTEL INFORMATION

Wisconsin’s 2019-2020 Legislative Session is nearing an end. As you know, WSTA has already had a successful session securing $19.7 million for the NG911 ESInet and $48 million for the PSC Broadband Expansion Grant Program approved in the biennial budget. Furthermore, WSTA successfully amended proposals that eliminated unfavorable changes to the Broadband Expansion Grant Program and prevented the Police and Fire Protection Fund from being diverted for purposes not related to NG911. Most notably, WSTA is making significant progress toward the passage of Assembly Bill 344 and Senate Bill 321, which will create an exemption from the telephone company property tax for your broadband investments in rural areas and underserved areas. In early 2020, we are focusing our efforts on floor votes in the Senate and Assembly on the property tax legislation. Your continued participation in the legislative process will be instrumental in our success.

By attending the 2020 WSTA Government Relations Seminar (Wednesday, March 4, 2020), you will hear legislators from the State Senate and State Assembly share their views on the current political environment and priorities for the upcoming session.  It will also be an opportunity for you to visit with and provide information to your legislators in their Capitol offices. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Esbeck at the WSTA office.
